Regular Gold Ore does not smelt in a furnace

I decided to smelt some gold ore in a furnace and it didn't work.

Expected Outcome:
Gold smelts and turns into a gold ingot.

Actual Outcome:
Gold does not prompt the furnace to smelt at all. It acts like an object that doesn't smelt at all.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Obtain regular gold ore (in any means - creative inventory, mining, etc)
2. Try to smelt in a furnace (or blast furnace) powered by any fuel (kelp block, coal charcoal, etc)
3. Observe that it doesn't work.

I suspect this is because of the addition of Nether Gold ore.
