Can't craft honey blocks or cake

I'm not a very techy person, so pardon my mistakes w the glitch desc. Whenever I try to make cake or honey blocks on my worlds, the materials I used to make the item disappear except for the bucket (cake) or the glass bottles (honey). After that everything I craft doesn't go to my inventory and instead floats on the ground (I can pick it up though). It stays like that until I restart the game.
