any consumable doesn't show in the hand when holding right click

If you select an empty hotbar slot, hold right click, and ,using the numbers on the keyboard, switch your selected hot bar slot to a food or potion item, the food or potion item will not be visible in your hand and instead your hand will be visible without any food or potion item.
