Dying while in nether leaves the castle

Was playing inside nether and was not able to exit, was killed and the nether building was left behind around where the reactor was. When inside the reactor complained that the pattern was wrong .

I expected to be returned to regular world through the reactor or when killed nothing but reactor left in its place

What actually happened was that the nether reactor was turned into obsidian and the building remained.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build nether reactor above or below ground
2. Enter nether
3. Try to return or get killed.
