No UI in Smithing Table

I was going to upgrade my diamond pickaxe to netherite. So when I made the smithing table and put it down, I couldn't tap on it to get into the UI. It just wouldn't open.

I think in programming, maybe Mojang forgot to add the fact that the smithing table has a use now.
