Can't see Crops/Crafting Table dropped by other person in local device-sharing 0.8.0

I'm hosting a world on my iPhone5. Colleague joins on iPad Mini (both 0.8.0 PE). When they drop a crafting table, I can't see it or use it (they can see it). When they plant crops, they see the crops but I don't see them.
