Split screen on Nintendo Switch does not work on realms

If I try to log in a second player via split screen, the first player is forced to disconnect, also disconnecting the second player. On very rare occasions, I can get it to work. Is this intentional or a bug? Steps to reproduce: 1: Enter a realm. 2: Use a second controller to join in a second player. 3: The game should either crash, disconnect the first player, or on very rare occasions, join the second player successfully.
