Grass Does Not Break

I was playing on Creative on 0.8.0 and placed TNT and detonated it. Nothing happened. I placed a lot more, and some of the Grass Dirt disappeared. I dropped into the hole. Once in the hole, I found a large hollow area that my TNT had destroyed. The only blocks that the TNT did not harm were the Grass Dirt blocks.
