End City gate bug

I was entering the end city islands through the portal so I throw an ender pearl through it and when I spawned on the other side I was falling through the void instead of being spawned on the end islands. after I was spawned in I hit the bottom of the void and died losing over two weeks of progress in my survival world. I ended up losing all of my good items including a pair of elytra that I spent four hours obtaining. I am upset about this bug destroying all of my work and would love to see it resolved in the near future.
