Stuck on generating world

I created a new nether portal near the ceiling in the nether.

i can go into the Overworld okay but when I go back into the portal to go back into the nether the game gets stuck on the generating world screen. 

I have to quit the game via the Xbox sub menu and then reload the game. It will then load me in the nether.
