Getting stuck in "loading terrain" screen when entering a nether portal

Nearly every time I enter the nether portal in my world, the "loading terrain" screen does not go away, and the only way around it is to exit the app and restart it. It is not even possible to "save and quit" properly, causing issues where the activities since the last auto save are not saved. I am unsure whether this is a bug in the game, or if it is my ps4 system slowing down, but i have never encountered this issue before, and only since 27|2|2020.
