Unable to Smelt Silk Touched Stone

Hello,

 I have noticed that you are unable to smelt stone mined using a silk touch pickaxe into smooth stone. Once I placed the blocks and mined them using a regular pick, then smelted the resulting cobble into the regular stone, I was able to smelt them again into the smooth stone.
