stuck on realms loading screen

when I click to join my friends realm the loading screen stays on 'loading resource packs'

I know this issue has happened many times before but I can't find a solution

I usually play on my phone but it stopped working recently so I switched to my iPad on the same account, I belive this may be part of the problem, I was able to play on the realm on my phone but never my ipad.

I have tried waiting (ended up waiting half an hour with no results), logging in and out, deleting and reinstalling Minecraft but nothing worked

I am quite angry as my friend spent money so we could play together on the realm but it is no longer working, therefore wasting their money.
