MCPE won't let me make cakes

I am on a iPad 5th gen and me and my friends are preparing to fight the Ender Dragon. I am trying to make cakes so I get the ingredients, I go to the crafting table, and I try to make the cakes. The crafting table takes the ingredients, but doesn't give me the cakes! It's been doing this for so long! Please help!
