Skins don't save between sessions

Changing skins in the profile menu does not persist between sessions. If I switch from the default skin (I like to use Perseus in the Greek Mythology pack)., it says it saves and it will work while playing as it should. However, once i save and quit Minecraft, when I load it up again the skin ALWAYS reverts to the default and I have to switch it again.
