Unable to connet to world, servers

Everytime I try to create a new server, such as hypixel, It loads for a while and then just says "unable to connect to world". I double check the IP and I've tried on many different servers but it never works. I can play on the pre-made servers, like The Hive, but not on servers that I try to add.
