When I died in the end I spawned at world spawn

I'm not sure why or how because it happened only once, but I had slept in a bed before going into the end portal then I died in the end but I respawned at world spawn, and when I respawned at world spawn it said generating world on my screen and I could not move, the only way to fix it was to close the game and reopen it.
