When my parrot is on my shoulder and I am fishing, i end up fishing the parrot.

I am fishing by a river when my tamed parrot gets on my shoulder. When I attempted to throw my fishing line, it got stuck to the parrot. Is this a bug or is this supposed to happen naturally?
