Iron golem attacking me in raid

As per the title, in a raid I ran into the village I created from the ground up (yes I did also spawn in 5 golems myself and created a massive village by curing multiple zombie villagers then breeding them) two more golems spawned in naturally for 7 now. During the raid I fought a Pillager at close range to the golem but did not hit the golem and bam he started hitting me. Then 6/7 chased me while I beat the raid and got hero of the village. So I guess being in close proximity made him hit me. They even ignored the pillagers who got past my fences and was walking in the village to chase me!
