Minecraft takes 10-20 minutes to load on startup.

When I attempt to load my game, I have to deal with a black screen for 10-20 minutes just for the Mojang logo to appear, then another 1-3 minutes for the game menu to appear, then after the menu appears my profile skins don't load and give errors.
