Multiplayer client blocks don't show up on host

A few minutes into game play, host player can not see blocks created by client. Disconnecting and reconnecting usually corrects, but issue recurs a few minutes after reconnecting. Had the issue both in survival and creative, with new maps and converted previous version maps.
