Game Freezes with an Open World

Turned my gs3 off for 5-10 minutes, when I turned it back on the game itself was frozen, I had to go into App Manager>Minecraft Pocked Edition> 'Force Stop' (I hit the power button without the pause screen)
What I expected to happen was...:

Game should not freeze and go to the 'Pause Screen'
What actually happened was...:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a save
2. Hit the power button on the device without having any menus in the game open.
3.Turn the device back on
