Unable to connect between iPad and Xbox one

We used to be able to play locally between xbox one and ipad, but for the last month the xbox will show that a friend has a world open, but when the friends tab is selected it doesn't show anyone available to join. We seem to still be able to play iso to android though. This has only been tried with the iPad creating the world so far.
