Chat Settings open automatically and can't close

When I open the chat in Minecraft, the Settings automatically open with it. The problem is, that the Settings stack over each other, so I can't close the them or the chat anymore. It is not possible to access the chat and I have to restart the game every time, because the settings won't close anymore.
