Screen glitches when my character goes to sleep

Anytime I go to bed in minecraft, the screen glitches and goes black. Usually, my cat sleeps with me in my bed and I can see as it lays down but with the glitch as soon as my character lays down everything goes black. This may very well be an issue with my own laptop, but I wanted to report it just in case.
