Crashing when Mining

For about a year now, even with each new update, the game freezes and then crashes when I mine things. It used to be only when I mined any type of rock (2018) but now (December 2019) the also freezes and crashes when I mine trees or dirt. I feel as though I'm losing out on half of the game due to not being able to mine and therefore not being able to really build.
