My switch has been lagging so much and I can't even play in Mineplex server because I'm in 1.14 and it says, can't play on the version 1.8 or greater, please help

I have been lagging so much and I can't play on Mineplex server because it is so laggy and there is text that says "can't play on version 1.12 or higher so I'm very confused
