Game crashes when using bone meal dispenser

The game crashes when you try to use a dispenser to bone meal more than 5 blocks in a 3x3 area. This is independent of the type of blocks in the area and even happens if there are blocks in the 3x3 area that are not touching any blocks that are touching the dispenser.
