Weird interaction with Surfshark VPN despite being whitelisted

I'm using Surfshark VPN but sometimes when I join a realm, it says unable to connect to world so I thought going into the Surfshark App to allow Minecraft to bypass the VPN would help but no it will still say unable to connect to world.

I'm not sure if this is a realm issue or what
