Menu buttons and icon are very large and cumbersome

The menu buttons/icons are super big and are over lapping. I tried loading up a world  and this is a consistent issue. When I attempted to fix this in setting I found  that I couldn't, and that the setting menue was also super big making it cumbersome  and not user friendly. Resetting  my graphics  to default  didn't  solve this issue.
