My imported skin is invisible and "corrupt/invalid"

I play on pocket edition and ever since the new skin update came out with the skin editor and blinking and everything, I've been unable to upload a custom skin. When I go to import one from my camera roll ad it says choose model type, the skin is invisible and apparently "corrupt." When I use it after joining a world I am completely invisible including my name tag, and if I equip  the skin before I join a world or a server it says "invalid skin" and I have to change it. I've googled this issue and there are no results having to do with the update, but I can't possibly be the only one with this problem? Please help!
