Have to press jump button multiple times to actually jump

I have a Redmi note 8 i have been installed Minecraft but when i want to jump to another part of the map so as not to fall I fall for example when I am in a mine and I finish mining and I want to go back up I put a block and jump but the jump button is not useful and it is very annoying since I always do that when I just went to a mine
