Character skin changes back to Steve consistently

After logging out of my world, I had noticed that my skin had automatically changed from my original skin that I had for a year, and went back to Steve and now i am unable to use my original skin for unknown reasons as my skin is nowhere to be found in the Minecraft app as I had it previously saved. Please fix this!
