Spam crafting stacks of items destroys the resource and doesn't craft

When spam crafting a lot of one resource using the 'craft stack' button, it destroys the resource and doesn't craft a stack of the desired item. Used it to try and make paper and it deletes all the sugar cane but the inventory is empty and doesn't contain paper.
