Hero of the village fail

In a world after beating 6 raids in survival I got the hero of the village effect. I quitted and saved the world. When I joined again the next day the effect had gone and the villagers were expensive again. I had worked so hard and I have been playing this world for so long. The only way to get it back is cheating. If I cheat the world is pointless.
