Joining Multiplayer (via Xbox Live)

When trying to play minecraft with my friend it wont appear in the joining friends after 5 mins and when i crash the game does not appear under joinable friends even tho i know he is playing

this is a very serous matter i might have to stop playing minecraft because of this
