Splitscreeen Multiplayer: Second screen disappears immediately

The Bug

It is impossible to join as a second or successive player in splitscreen mode using a second controller. After picking a second user from the menu, the game freezes for a moment, and immediately removes the second player.

Affects

Both vertical and horizontal splitscreen modes are affected by this issue. I am unable to confirm if this also happens on similar consoles like the Playstation 4 or the Xbox One.

How to Replicate

• Join a singleplayer world
• On a second controller, join in splitscreen mode
• Let out a sigh, as couch co-op is broken
