hud dissapear bug

I was just playing a server and I right clicked on a chest while falling and finally fell to the ground and my hud was gone but the chest inventory was gone, but when I checked the "hide hud" setting I turned it on and then turned it off, didn't affect anything. this has happen to me 3 times and I have to restart my game when that happens.
