Excessive amount of battery used in iOS 7

What I expected to happen was for longer lasting battery life

*What actually happened was in the matter of five minutes 10% had been used

1. Open Minecraft P.E.
2. Go into any map (creative or survival)
3. Play for five minutes
4. Exit app and roughly 10% of battery life used

(This is happening on minecraft version 0.7.6 and iOS 7)
