other players have the same skin as me or I have there skin

I was playing on a realm with a friend when we meet we saw that for my POV he was wearing my skin but for him it was his skin. I log off to see if it was a bug but I log back on I was wearing his skin and the same as him too for a bit then he change to my skin but he did not change it. I log off and back on me and him as back as our skin but in the pause menu it was showing as his skin. I went into the character creator it was showing as his skin I went to import my skin file but it was show as him still
