i cant exit out of the character creator (the area with the nether coat)

It all started today when I got the new update 1.13.0 with the foxes. When I saw that the character selector had changed I went in it and put on the Nether coat, but when I tried to leave I couldn't, I pressed the esc button and the X at the top too no avail. I eventually just closed out.
