Won't open after recent update

I'm not sure if I added the info correctly but my son has an iPad mini and plays Minecraft PE. After the recent update, it's no longer opening. It will show Mojang logo then a couple seconds later closes. I rebooted the iPad etc and it still won't open. It seems others online are having the same issue? My son has autism and is obsessed with minecraft. Please help!
