Cant get rid of bell in hotbar

I just updated today and loaded into my single player world, and while I was moving around my librarians I broke my villager bell. Now I can't remove it from my hotbar by any means. I cannot place it or move it into a chest. It is kind of a hassle to deal with but I hope this information was helpful
