Name tags don’t work when naming pets

Made five name tags for my pets, used it on two of my dogs (used two just to make sure it wasn’t a minor glitch) and the name didn’t even pop up. Reloaded the world and the name still didn’t show. Wasted five levels for name tags that didn’t even work
