Issue with barrel and redstone

I made a hidden entrance using a barrel as a block powered by a comparator,and it works great, unless I relog, in which case the barrel just stops being a power-able block, and I need to break it and put it back, which is annoying. I am playing on windows 10, but the world is on xbox, if it matters.
