Freezes whilst going into the Nether

Whenever I go through the Nether portal at seems like it’s loading but it either freezes, puts me in the Nether but in a random location or takes me back to the overworld. Whenever the game freezes, I have to restart but when I load it back up I’m in the lava and die with all my things. This is extremely annoying as all I want to do is play the game but this bug limits the sort of things I can do.

I don’t know whether it matters but I’m playing on survival with the PureBDCraft texture pack.
