Player position not showing up on ANY maps

Me and my friend play together through Xbox Live, and at first our maps had our player icon things on the maps, but then throughout the game, they stopped showing up for him, and not it's not showing up for me. We've tried making many different maps, and none of them have showed the icons. Any idea on what's happening or how to fix this?
