cant craft, i looked up the issure

I joined my sons game (he plays on xbox) from my console version. For some reason i can only craft pretty much wooden planks, i cant make any tools, boats, glass etc. He can do everything on xbox but i can do anything from the pc.

I have restarted the PC and the game multiple times and even tried uninstall and reinstalling the game. I made my own server as well and had the same issues.

I have bought this game on many platforms and i am frustrated that it is not working.
