Dark oak saplings won’t grow

We used to be able to take back dark oak saplings to where the regular ones grow and when planted they would grow but it wouldn’t so I went back to where I got the dark oak and planted it there and it still wouldn’t grow not even with bone meal . Eventually I will be out of dark oak trees unless you can fix it
