old world type saves no longer load, remain stuck in generating world phase

I made a brand new world with old type and played for a few hours, everything seemed ok until I saved my world and quit. When I returned to play at a later point in the day, the file would not load anymore. It stays in the generating world phase despite the loading bar filling completely.

I made new world using the same seed and the same thing happened. I've found that switching old world to infinite causes my file to work again, but i do not wish to play infinite, and there's no way to switch back to old world after.

I've tried it in the xbox one version of minecraft and it loads without problem.
